As Summer draws to a close, we look back at all the fun we’ve had! The past few weeks have been quite a lot of fun and all the kids in our Art Attack Summer Camp art classes enjoyed creating art in and out of the studio. Our Summer Art Camps allowed the campers to practice their drawing techniques and each week they created an original 16”x20” oil painting! Each week included a field trip to help the campers expand their art horizons.
Here is a quick recap of the first half of our 2016 Summer Art Camps and the great works our kids created!
Week 1
The theme for the first week of our 2016 Art Summer Camps was “Picnic and Painting!” We started the week with a trip to Crissy Field where the kids set up their easels and took in the vistas while planning their masterpieces under the gaze of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and the Palace of Fine Arts.
Week 2
If you love your pet then you’ll love what our campers did in week two. “Paint a Pet” is always a favorite and this year was no different. We rounded off the week with a trip to the Peninsula Humane Society where the kids met and played with the bunnies, cats and dogs waiting for their forever homes!
Week 3
Do you believe in dragons, elves and fairies? We brought our imagination and put it to canvas for “Mythical Creatures” in week 3. Our campers traversed Castle Rock and tried their best to see enchanted creatures! Then back in the studio, we learned more about mythical beasts and the kids created their own magical masterpieces!
Week 4
It was a whale of a tale in week four and our “Adventure at Sea!” Our arty explorers traversed Angel Island for a day of plein air painting at Ayala Cove. There be no pirates, argh, but there were still many adventures to be had!
Week 5
If you have a sweet tooth, beware! In week five of our summer art camps we say “Pass the Dessert!” The campers toured downtown Burlingame’s finest sweet shops on a “Sugar Crawl” sketching their favorite treats along the way. Not to fret, we worked off the sugar at Washington Park with human pyramids and tree climbing!
