Spring is officially here! Now with an extra hour of daylight and the weather heating up, joining a fun Art Class to expand your creativity and artistic expression has never been easier or more fun. Art Attack Burlingame is enrolling for their summer courses now, and would love to have you join in the fun! Our weekly summer art camps begin June 12th, and extended throughout the summer months. In this monthly article we will feature a Jewish American Painter Max Weber, one of the original American Painters in the Cubist movement and his current display at the Fine Arts Museum San Francisco. We will also take a closer look at Week 1 Summer Camp and all the fun your kids will have in our first week program. Finally we will feature a fun Art Event in the Bay Area.
Max Weber was a Famous Jewish-American painter and one of the very original American Cubist painters. He is very well known today for his original piece “Chinese Restaurant”, featured in the collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art. He emigrated from Poland at the young age of 10, and began a rigorous schooling at the Pratt Institute under Arthur Wesley Dow. He was met with a lot of criticism early in his career, but through it all later gained recognition as the pioneer in the Modern American Cubist movement. He has had many successes in his art career including in 1930, the Museum of Modern Art held a retrospective of his work, the first solo exhibition at that museum of an American artist. He was praised as a “pioneer of modern art in America” in a 1945 Life Magazine article. Some of Max Weber’s works can be seen at the Fine Arts Museum in San Francisco, and other museums across California and the US. For more information, please visit their website here.
