We’re over the moon!
Earning a Gold Medal for Best Art Class in our 30th Year feels extra special.
Thank you for being part of our community.
There’s nothing else we’d rather be doing.

The San Mateo County Fair hosted their Fine Art Contest,
and once again it was filled with pieces by Art Attack students,
many adorned with prize ribbons.
Below are just a few of the pieces we spotted there.
Some of our artists won multiple awards, which is a truly stunning feat.
No matter what the outcome, it is such a big deal to be bold enough to put yourself out there and submit your artwork to any show or competition.
We couldn’t be more proud of you all.

SUMMER CAMP

We started the Summer with Week 1: How Sweet It Is, where we visited the Ghirardelli Square and It’s Sugar, and sketched all the mouth-watering treats we saw there.

Back at the studio campers customized dessert trays by mosaicking their favorite treat. They drew their designs, cut the tiles, and applied the grout all on their own.
We’re always proud to offer our students the opportunity to work with advanced materials, and it makes us so happy to see them rise to the occasion.

These turned into some of our favorite projects of all time!

From there we enjoyed Week 2: Creature Carnival! We visited Happy Hollow Park, where the combination of carnival rides and petite zoo delighted us all.

We returned to the studio with happy hearts, and created paintings based on our love for animals and fairgrounds.

Inspired by ribbons awarded at county fairs, campers designed and hand-stitched their own accolades.

A few titles you could find among the group included “Clay Expert,” “Star Gymnast,” “Otterly Kind,” “Girl Boss,” “Game Guy,” “Totally Legit,” and “Practically Perfect.”

Week 3: Picnic in the Park! brought us to Burlingame’s Washington Park where campers painted elaborate still lives on location.

The artists used plastic view-finders to help them narrow down the lavish tablescapes to more concise compositions for their paintings.
Then they drew value studies of each idea in their sketch books before choosing which one to commit to paint.

We spent the rest of the week creating mosaic stepping stones, where students used tile cutters and grout to put together their custom projects.

Week 4: Pass the Dessert! found us gallavanting down Burlingame Avenue, eating and sketching our way through all the delicious bakeries.

At the studio we were absolutely TICKLED to meet the most colorful dog we’ve ever seen. The owner (a professional dog groomer at Here, Doggy in SSF) was nice enough to let us all meet and greet with the pup when we excitedly ran outside after spotting them through our window.

With hearts in our eyes and color on the brain, campers enthusiastically cut and assembled tiles for their bespoke dessert trays.

These trays paired with these paintings?? *Chef’s kiss*
Dessert weeks are a fan favorite for a reason, folks!
